Republican David W. Osborne Wins Special Election

David W. Osborne elected state representative of House District 59
Frankfort, KY: Republicans are celebrating the victory of David W. Osborne in the special election for House District 59. Today, voters of Oldham and Eastern Jefferson counties elected David W. Osborne, of Prospect, to serve as their next state representative. Winning 58 percent of the votes cast, Osborne defeated Democrat Jody Curry to fill the seat previously held by Tim Feeley (R-Crestwood).

“We are extremely pleased with the results of this race,” said Republican Chairman Darrell D. Brock. Jr. “With a special election you never know what kind of turnout you will have, but David campaigned hard and the voters made their choice clear. This election attests to the increasing momentum of the Republican Party.”

House District 59 has 25 precincts in Oldham County and 3 precincts in Jefferson County. There are 32, 442 registered voters in the district according to the state board of elections.

"We look forward to working with Representative Osborne as he represents the people of Oldham and Eastern Jefferson County," House Minority Floor Leader Jeff Hoover said. "He is a talented, capable individual with a strong background in business and agriculture and I have no doubt will quickly become an important, contributing member of the General Assembly."

“I am proud of what we did. It is an honor that the voters of my home county and of Eastern Jefferson county have entrusted in me this opportunity to represent them in the General Assembly,” said Representative-elect David Osborne.

David Osborne on the Issues

Growth

 Education

“With the growth come new issues with our education system.  Frankfort needs to be our partner as we maintain the very highest standards for our schools.  However, it is imperative that we do not overburden our taxpayers and fight for fair distribution of our state education dollars.”

"We have extremely dedicated teachers in our community, but we need to do a better job in supporting them.  Teachers in surrounding states make more money and receive better benefits and so we must do more to attract and retain the best and brightest.  Our schools keep an army of administrators just to deal with excessive state regulations.  Because of that, some teachers have to buy school supplies with their own money.  We can, and must, do a better job at getting school dollars in the classrooms."

Health Care

David Osborne supports:

• Capping Junk Lawsuits to bring Health costs down and keep Doctors in Kentucky

• Bringing competition to our system by returning Health Insurance Carriers

• Educating our Seniors to make sure they are aware of both Public and Private programs available which provide Prescription Drug Discounts

• Giving our teachers and state employees coverage they deserve, at fair prices
